Lime Lake is a freshwater lake located in Cleveland Township, Leelanau County, Michigan, approximately two miles north of the Village of Maple City, Michigan.. The lake is located in a basin setting of wooded rolling sand hills approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Good Harbor Bay and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
These three counties make up the Greater Tri-Cities, a common term describing this region of Michigan. The region also goes by the name of the Great Lakes Bay Region . Statistically, the region is known as the Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City Metropolitan Area , a combined statistical area composed of these three counties.
At the head of both arms of the bay is Traverse City, the largest city in Northern Michigan. The area surrounding the bay is renowned for its fruit production, especially for cherries and viticulture. [3] The bay is located within parts of the Michigan counties of Antrim, Charlevoix, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau.
Area code 231 was created in June 1999 by an area code split of area code 616, which had served the entire western half of the Lower Peninsula, extending west from the north-south line aligned with the Mackinac Bridge. 231 was carved out of the northern part.
Rogers City was established in 1868, when William E.
