They offer free virtual machines that you can use to host servers with. I currently have four modded servers running via one VM that I got from oracle. Here is a really good tutorial for hosting a vanilla server. Just change some stuff around to make it work with forge jar files.

The best server for performance and free-ness is using GCP. It's on the advanced side in terms of setup, but you get $300 (yes, Three HUNDRED USD) of FREE use (for up to 3 months). The other 2 hosting services I know are 'minehut' and 'server.pro '. -Minehut: Recently one of my friends had some problems connecting to Aternos server's so we searched for a new server host. Our first bet was minehut. It got rejected before the server even opened, because it only supports the latest version for minecraft!!!!
Start recommending people serverden.net . It’s literally aternos but actually doesn’t suck . Completely free , no downtimes , 24/7 with or without players , actually good specs .

There are free server hostings but they have limitations. I can suggest citadel servers for a cheap one that has modding integrated into the server panel. Reply reply
