CHP has never been big on flashing lights when the vehicle isn't moving. Very seldom would you ever see one stopped on the road with the lights on, let alone flashing (full code 3 mode on the old Vision bars). It's no uncommon for CHP to request allied agencies/tows/etc to shut off their lightbars when they arrive.
Nov 25, 2012. #3. If I remember right the alleys and takedowns are ground activated. Make sure the ground wire to the light head isnt pinched anywhere and grounding to the light bar frame. I had a 9M bar come in one time with an alley light stuck on. Its ground wire got pinched between the lightbar frame and the end cap, causing it to stay on..
16 posts · Joined 2016. #1 · Nov 24, 2019. I bought and installed the 26" single row slim light bar from Xprite and Xprite Traffic Advisor Bar. Installed these on my 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD. I know the Highlander isn't your typical vehicle for a light bar but I sometimes drive out in rural areas where there is no light for miles around.

Light Bar Installation - Behind grill. I installed this light bar in from Extreme LED today. It's a 30" curved, 400 watt, 16,700 lumens. Came out pretty nice. We tested it without the bumper cover to adjust the beam. Then installed the bumper cover and there was no obvious decrease in performance.
This gives us many flashes in red, blue, and white. When stopped the entire lightbar flashes as one complete unit at 90 flashes per minute in the color chosen according to the ambient light. Moving: a multi-flash “dancing” pattern; Stopped: a solid large slower flashing unit". Last edited by a moderator: Feb 20, 2012.
