The boots I do with Nicks are custom heights with no top facing (the strip of leather up around the top of the boot). This helps to keep the boot from biting at the top of the shaft on 6" and shorter boots as well as creating a more clean, less stitched up panel of leather.

I am always dismayed when shopping for shoes and boots on line as most of the sizes are way too big for my 6 1/2 size foot. I can imagine that with anything larger than a 10 1/2, I could move myself, my family, and my dog into it and live comfortably.

I have wanted some solid work and life boots for a hot minute. I like the fact Nicks Boots can be resoled and rebuilt. I’m looking to be on my feet 6-12 hr days at times. They’ll also be used on colder wet surf adventures and the occasional hike about. Basically my life boot when I’m north of US Interstate 80.
The #3 toe looks better than the Nicks #4 toe and the SJ toe (very similar), IMHO, but that's me. The #3 Nicks #55 last is narrower, somewhat like the White's #55, but not exactly. The leather options are probably more so with White's overall, but Nicks has some leather that White's doesn't. Most of this is just personal preference.
