  3. Why won't Publix come to Memphis or North Mississippi? : r/publix...

    www.reddit.com/r/publix/comments/se9wah/why_wont_publix_come_to_memphis_or_north

For one, Memphis is a Kroger stronghold. Even though Publix has dominated Kroger in other markets like Huntsville, Kroger has been in Memphis for a long time, and it’s probably a better financial prospect to just keep growing in the markets they’re in. As far as Mississippi goes, every time Publix moves into a new state, they start a new LLC.

  4. Be honest, is working at publix really that bad or are we just...

    www.reddit.com/r/publix/comments/lfrvu5/be_honest_is_working_at_publix_really...

This is my observation. Just going from a customer for a long time, to working at Publix, and talking to old timers... the company is moving in a negative direction, and that's deeply discouraging for people who remember the Publix that actually seemed to stand for something other than the naked grasping at maximum profits, no matter how they have to trample and abuse the employees to achieve it.

If they had raised their minimums across the board to $15 at that time, it would have given Publix a reputation as a high paying employer. Then they could have lobbied for the $15 minimum wage and all of the smaller grocery chains that make a much smaller profit margin would have had a hard time staying in business paying everyone $15.

  11. Why is Publix so expensive? : r/publix - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/publix/comments/154ak7g/why_is_publix_so_expensive

Publix's answer to every grievance about the lack of pay and benefits is 'but we give you stocks.' I fail to see how stocks is going to help your employees pay their rent that month. This is the first retailer I have ever worked for that doesn't give employee discount and they don't really offer that many programs for their associates.
