After opening the autorun as admin, when trying to launch Valorant, a message will pop up on your screen. If you want to fix Valorant click "Accept", then another message will appear asking if you want to restart your computer for the fix to be applied. If you want this, click "Restart". Changing the install directory does not work once you have a 'VALORANT' icon on your desktop. If you have League of Legends installed it defaults to the Riot Games folder, regardless of where it is. This PC -> D: -> Make new folder (name it whatever the fuck (prefferably "Valorant")) -> Install.

With the amount of times this game crashes and you have to rejoin quickly, id say an SSD is necessary. There aren’t really any games yet that would have any benefits from faster storage other than faster loading times. Buy ryzen threadripper so you can get more fps. Of course, in terms of loading.
Several Linux distros these days come pre packed with all the good stuff for gaming as well, you just have to install them, all the work is already done for you. The effort is about the same as the typical effort someone does to tweak settings in game already to push for max fps etc or turn off undesirable stuff like motion blur or bloom
