Shawm - a double-reed woodwind instrument with a nasal sound similar to that of an oboe. Viol - a bowed, stringed instrument with guitar-like frets on its neck, with a body similar to that of a cello, and that is also played upright like a cello. Bagpipes, drum, flute, and horn I assume you know. A "pan flute" is a flute with multiple pipes of ...
The skill used to play an instrument is 'Performance', however the check made can involve any of the core stats that are applicable at that moment. Most traditional is a Charisma (Performance) check, but others, like a Dexterity (Performance), or Intelligence (Performance) check are just as viable, and often more appropriate. Reply reply.

They were created by the same Bard, a gnome named Bartwart who lived 250 years ago. He was a prodigy both as a musician and as an inventor, and achieved international recognition while in his 30 (young for a gnome); his magical ...
There are a ton of Realms-specific additional instruments in the SCAG which are prefaced with "In addition to the common musical instruments listed in chapter 5, “Equipment,” of the Player’s Handbook, bards in the Realms play the following instruments:" and these would need extra tool proficiencies introducing if used.
When you wield your musical instrument in one or two hands, and no other weapons, it becomes a weapon that deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage and has the versatile (1d8) property. When used in one hand, it gains the finesse property. Wielded with two hands, your Armor Class increases by 2. Hi folks, A player of mine wants to play a bugbear bard named ...
