I have never been to the University library, but the Princeton town library is awesome! You could spend hours there with your kids. Also, the Princeton Market Fair is a nice, quiet, upscale mall. They have a great toy store called Pipsqueak and Wilfred. Also a Barnes and Noble, Pottery Barn Kids, and movie theater (if you are trying to kill time).
Children are certainly not left out in the specialty stores. There are many that provide clothes, toys, and other things that are just for the young ones. Among them you will find the Disney Store, The Children's Place, Pottery Barn Kids, Toyland, and at least ten other ones. When it comes to specialty stores - there are plenty.

When stuff doesnt sell it goes to outlet malls. We have found that the pottery barn outlet is excellent, restoration hardware is overpriced to begin with so the outlet is still way expensive. A lot of it has scratches or is stuff that didnt move - supply chain mgmt cant predict what people are really going to buy.
