Thanks for your reply. I can't post a picture until tomorrow. Sadly this is not a simple thermostat replacement, it is the housing that the thermostat goes in. It mounts to the front of the cylinder head behind the waterpump housing and one of the 3 bolts that holds the housing to the head cannot back out enough because it hits the water pump ...
I was looking at my tractor yesterday and it appears there is a coolant bypass line from the block (just behind cooling fan) to the thermostat housing (on radiator side of thermostat). Is that correct? If so it looks like there is a 1/2" diameter pipe connection on the thermostat manifold.
In September I purchased a used '04 JD790 and have been working my way through all the Scheduled Maintenance before the winter hits. The JD790's Operator's Manual calls for a Thermostat replacement every 2-years or 2,000 hours of operation. I looked for a simple Thermostat Change Procedure...

I need a new thermostat housing for my 1984 Ford 1510, but am having trouble finding a replacement. Even online searches haven't been much help. Is anyone aware of a workaround for this? Maybe a different housing that will work or some sort of convertor? Thanks.

The B7100 does not have a thermostat. The piece you are taking off holds the dynamo and otherwise just channels water for the cooling system. It has what is called a Thermo Syphon system which has no water pump. It relies on convection for moving the water through the radiator and engine.
The thermostat is a unique style and sits in the top of the Timing Gear Cover beneath the Top Radiator Hose. Held in place by a Snap-Ring (Circlip) which needs to be removed to release the thermostat itself after removal of the Radiator Hose. No loss of coolant implies no issue with the Head Gasket etc.
1) Alt belt needs tightened or 2) water pump soon to need replacement.Depending on the number of hours on your tractor your alternator belt may be loose enough that the alternator is not keeping up with the needed charge, but time will tell on that.
