The El Paso Times is the newspaper for the US city of El Paso, Texas.The paper is the only English-language daily in El Paso (after the El Paso Herald-Post, an afternoon paper, closed in 1997), but often competes with the Spanish-language El Diario de El Paso, an offshoot of El Diario de Juárez which is published across the Rio Grande in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
Today, El Diario is the fourth largest newspaper in Mexico. In 1985 Diario de Chihuahua was established, and a modern five-story office building was constructed. In 1999 the newspapers changed the name and banner from Diario de Juarez and Diario de Chihuahua to El Diario to better serve the readers in the State of Chihuahua and in El Paso.

It was the successor to the El Paso Herald, first published in 1881, and the El Paso Post, founded by the E. W. Scripps Company in 1922. The papers merged in 1931 under Scripps ownership.
The El Paso Times earned more than 20 awards, including "Newsroom of the Year" 2023 in Texas journalism honors.
