The Fan Control project is quite active with timely updates which can add new features.\ For those resisting by saying that FanSpeed is good enough or FanSpeed is simple and easy to use also need to know that the last day FanSpeed was updated was 21st of February 2015. That is over 7 years now, and it wasn't even built for Windows 10 or Windows 11.
On Windows I use this neat tool called Fan Control. You can set it to adjust fan speed based on different temperature sensors. For example, front fans react to HDD temperatures (I have a very warm HDD), and rear fan reacts to GPU temperature. You can use the BIOS to adjust CPU fan speeds, but if you need something specific like HDD or GPU ...

r/FanControl. Fan Control, a highly customizable fan controlling software for Windows. • 1 yr. ago. snkeyez95. Not starting automatically - Windows 11. Been using Fan Control for quite some time in Windows 10. Just upgraded to a fresh Windows 11 install and I can’t figure out why program won’t start automatically. Any clue?
Microsoft did publish a manual though on how to get XCloud running on the Deck, including gamepad controls & custom "box" art for the launcher. Still, I'd say that's the most you'll get from Microsoft on Linux (in terms of gaming anyway, there's a Linux Teams client, Visual Studio Code works on Linux etc.)
T-Troll. • 2 yr. ago. You can try my alienfx-tools (especially alienfan-gui), it uses the same "boost" approach as awcc, but you can have unlimited points in graph. Also, SpeedFan support SOME of Alienware notebooks (f.e. m15R3-R4, but not R1-R2). PS: Please keep in mind - AWCC DOES NOT set RPMs directly. It just increase it above BIOS ...
In order to fix this, the application must be exited and launched again. How to reproduce the issue: Set both fan control and performance overlay to run at start via their applications. Reboot steam deck multiple times (for example 3-5 times). Check each boot that the applications started and are working as they should.
The "fan" section shows the RPM and the control section shows the Duty Cycle. Each fan is controlled by a specific control. Each fan/control combo corresponds to a single fan header. If you don't have a fan connected, the fan section will stay at 0RPM because nothing is being read on the RPM pin of the header, but you can change the duty cycle ...
- Default: how Windows work by default - SteamOS: fan curve taken from SteamOS fan control - Max: as name says No liability. Your device can overheat, break or whoever knows what else. It requires fine tuning of fan curve and more proper overshooting, but at least it works :)
